FPC Alderson Federal Prison Camp is a minimum-security women’s federal prison located at Glen Ray Rd. Box A Alderson, West Virginia operated by the Mid-Atlantic Region of the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), a division of the U.S. Department of Justice.
The Alderson camp houses approximately 950 white-collar non-violent female federal inmates from the Eastern U.S. who are charged with Federal Crimes and convicted in U.S. District Court mainly of Embezzlement; Bank, Wire, Insurance, Mail, Mortgage, Loan, Tax and Securities Fraud.

FPC Alderson Federal Prison Housing
FPC Alderson Federal Prison Camp is a Minimum Security Federal Prison Camp housing is dormitory-style 2 person bunk beds as well as 4 and 8 person cubicles. Storage space in most units consists of an individual locker.
Locks may be purchased in the institution commissary. The amount of personal property allowed is limited to those items, which can be safely placed in the space designated.
FPC Alderson Federal Prison Religion
The FPC Alderson Chapel is located on the lower level of Willebrandt Hall in the rear of the building.
There are facilities for worship services, prayer and study areas, offices, and a religious library and provide services and programs to Christian, Jewish and Muslim inmates.
The Alderson religious services department has a Catholic chaplain, Jewish Rabbi, and Muslim Imam to provide to the religious needs of inmates.
Volunteers from the cities of Sandstone and Lewisburg help orchestrate services for other religious groups.
Inmates can wear religious items, and the facilities observe different holy days and also accommodate to any dietary restrictions for various faiths.
FPC Alderson Federal Prison Medical
FPC Alderson has a full-time medical staff on hand and/or contract medical workers from nearby cities and provides care for inmates who may experience any medical emergencies.
In the event institution staff is unable to care for an inmate’s medical needs, inmates may be sent to the Greenbrier Medical Center in Ronceverte, West Virginia for medical care.

FPC Alderson inmates work positions that involve working in food, carpentry, electric, heating, ventilation & air conditioning, landscape, paint, plumbing, utility, and general maintenance.
Alderson Education
FPC Alderson inmates without a high school diploma or General Educational Development
Credential (GED) must attend the BOP Inmate Literacy Program to obtain their GED.
FPC Alderson inmates who are non-English speaking must take the (ESL) English As A Second Language Inmate Program.
The education department offers classes in Cosmetology accredited through the West Virginia Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists as well as a Dog Training program.
FPC Alderson Federal RDAP Sentence Reduction Services
FPC Alderson offers the BOP 500 Hour RDAP program that enables federal inmates with verifiable substance abuse issues to receive up to an 18-month early release off their sentences.

FPC Alderson Federal Prison Visiting Information
It is the policy of the BOP that visiting privileges should be an integral part of an inmate’s institutional program. However, the number of visitors must be kept within reasonable limits due to space limitations. There is a limit of four (4) adult visitors per person at one time unless prior approval is received from the Unit Manager. When the established capacity has been reached (100 inside and 50 outside), termination of visits will be as follows:

Inmates are not allowed to receive packages from home without prior written approval from the inmate’s unit team or authorized staff member at the institution. The only packages an inmate may receive from home are those containing release clothing and authorized medical devices. However, inmates may receive magazines, hard and paperback books directly from the publisher
FPC Alderson Inmate Telephone Calls
Alderson inmates are authorized 300 minutes of prepaid phone use January through October, and 400 minutes, in November and December. Inmates’ phone lists can contain 30 approved called numbers and calls a maximum of 15 minutes in length. VAC Communications contracts prison call services to the Bureau of Prisons. A call costs 21¢ per minute, with 15-minute calls costing $3.15.
